Pupillage / Chambering Students

The firm's pupillage /attachment programme is aimed at equipping our pupils with the necessary tools for a legal career, and not just to fulfil the statutory requirements for admission to the Malaysian Bar.

Opportunities abound for pupils to actively assist our partners and lawyers on files and attend Court, negotiations or client meetings, prepare arguments, submissions, agreements or research on a multitude of complex legal issues. We don't believe in leaving our pupils standing at a distance like a wall flower, but we encourage our pupils to embrace legal practice first-hand and integrate into our firm's working environment. We rotate our pupils on a bi-monthly basis, between our three (3) main departments, being Corporate/Commercial, Banking & Finance and Litigation departments, so as to allow pupils to sample the rigours of the different areas of practice during their pupillage. Regular in-house training seminars are conducted by our Partners and Senior Associates so that our knowledge is shared with our junior members.

Applications for pupillage/ attachment should include the following:
LLB examination results (or academic transcript) & Certificate of Legal Practice (CLP) or Bar Vocational Course (BAR) certificate (if applicable)
Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM), Sijil Tinggi Pelajaran Malaysia (STPM) or Matriculation 4. certificates (or their equivalent being O-level and A-level certificates)
Prizes/ scholarships awarded
Extracurricular activities and positions held (if any)
Preferred area(s) of practice
Availability period
Preferred tenure for attachment

We offer the following pupillage/ attachment package:
Competitive remuneration and allowance during pupillage/ attachment
Full reimbursement / subsidy for registration and filing fees with the Bar Council and the
High Court with regard to court papers for admission to the Malaysian Bar
Full reimbursement to approved external seminars run either by the Bar Council and/or Kuala Lumpur Bar Committee for Continuing Legal Education purposes
Medical coverage
Recruitment with a view for retention

Even if you are still waiting for your results of the CLP or BAR examinations or university final examinations, we welcome your application as good lawyers are not always the best academic achievers. Hence, while a good foundation in theory is important, we are also looking for individuals who can "think out of the box" and provide solutions which fulfil our clients' needs!

Besides the relevant qualifications and PQE [post-qualification experience], candidates must possess good written and verbal communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia.
