Q: What are the minimum qualifications needed to apply for a position as a pupil or lawyer in Albar & Partners?

A: Applicants should have a proven academic ability (with at least a 2nd class Upper or a 1st class (Hons) LLB degree) and the ability to communicate well with others. Relevant working experience is a plus! However we encourage all potential applicants to send in their resume to us as we do look beyond academic achievements. Hence, while a good foundation in theory is important, we are also looking for individuals who can "think out of the box" and provide solutions which fulfil our clients' needs within the confines of ethics and relevant laws.

Q: Is there any preference between local graduates and overseas graduates for a position in Albar & Partners?

A: Generally, we observe that overseas graduates tend to have the edge because of the exposure and experience that they would have had while living and studying abroad, which help them to become more independent individuals. However, this is not true in all cases and we do have a big intake of local graduates as well.

Q: Do pupils go on to practice in Albar & Partners?

A: Each pupil is individually assessed on the quality of the respective research and work assignments which he/she does for his/her master and other members in the firm. Your individual performance as well as your ability to be a team player determines your future with us. Generally we look for
People who have ambition and drive
People with integrity
Professionalism
Team players

Q: What can I expect during my pupillage in Albar & Partners?

A: Pupils will be rotated bi-monthly between our core departments so that you gain exposure to the intricacies of the different law practices at Albar & Partners. You will be given solid hands-on practical training in legal practice to develop your professional skills as a lawyer, and will also have the opportunity to attend courses on specific aspects of law, both in-house and externally at the Bar Council or organised by the Kuala Lumpur Bar Committee as part of the firmís commitment to continuing legal education. Pupillage at Albar & Partners is not just about work. We believe that it is important to have all-rounded lawyers. Hence, we routinely organise a wide variety of activities and events for our partners, lawyers & pupils, as well as our support staff to get together, chill out and have fun. Take a look at the photo gallery in the EVENTS section of our website to see some snapshots of some of the activities that have been organised over the years.

Q: Does Albar & Partners offer attachment programmes?

A: Yes, we offer the opportunity for students to join us for a vacation attachment or internship for periods of 4 to 6 weeks to enable students to gain insights into the rigours of professional practice, and a real-life working environment in law.
